Embracing the Fall

Hot Summer days are slowly being swept up by the wind. The green of leaves are transforming into vibrant oranges and reds. Gloves, scarves, and boots are being donned. Pies are baking, pumpkins are being picked, hot drinks are brewing. There’s a curious smell of excitement in the air, mystery. And with a sudden expectant thrill, one realizes: Autumn is coming.

Calendar announcing Autumn

Fall is the best! Slowly, but surely, these miserably hot days are working their way towards crisp, cool air, and what a thrill it gives me!

I had a very pleasant summer. I finished writing a book, got a lot of editing done, swam a good bit, and just had an all around nice, lazy time. But when fall approaches, that laziness in me packs its bags and is replaced by an invigorated readiness to DO. A whole new sense of life awakens inside me. Perhaps it’s the invigorating cool air. Whatever it is, I absolutely love fall!

Bench in water

Whether you’re curled up in your favorite spot sipping on hot cider reading a book or out jumping in the fallen leaves, autumn has it all.

I plan on fully embracing this next month, filling it with lattes and boots and scarves and opened windows and pictures of the changing leaves and blankets and books. I’m going to take my laptop outside with a latte in hand and plan my novel for NaNoWriMo. And I’m just going to ENJOY this beautiful coming season God has blessed us with.

Embracing the fall with vigor!

  1. I too love Fall. It's my favorite time of year. Perhaps because I do not fare well in the heat of summer. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Congratulations on finishing a book. That's quite an accomplishment. ~ Abby

    1. I don't do great in the heat myself. It's always such a relief when the air turns cool.
      Thank you! ^_^

  2. Aaaaahhhh your pictures are always so beautiful! The bench! How did it do that! <3 And lovely post as always! ^_^

Fall is just so exciting isn't it? :D Of course, after a few days of Fallish weather round about here, the temperatures went back to summer weather... But that's Texas for ya. :P

Hmm... now I want to take my laptop outside for my Nano plotting!

    1. They are? Goodness, thank yooou!!! The bench is sitting in a pond we live by and the water got so full it came up all the way to where the bench was sitting. I thought it looked awesome so had to snap a picture, I don't know if the water has ever gotten that full. (And technically that was in March and not Fall at all, shhh.)

Is it! Ugh, our weather is still kind of warm as well. I hope it doesn't last too long. I want some proper Fall weather!

Last NaNo I did tons of writing outside and had a BLAST. I hated when it got warm because I had sort of made it a habit to go outside and write through all of fall, winter, and spring. I cannot wait until I can do that again.

  3. I love fall. It came early here, which means winter will be soon behind it, but for right now I get to sleep with my windows open and curl up under layers of blankets. And enjoy my hot tea again.

    1. Wow, I wish I could say the same! Fall comes way too late here and sometimes our winters are more like autumn. It's still a bit warm here. I'm hoping it will start cooling soon.

  4. I am glad you enjoy fall! If it stays warm at yours I would probably be willing to swap weather... it is rather cold over here already and I am getting sick because of it.
This is probably one of the main reasons I don't like fall. Everyone around me is healthy while I start coughing and sneezing and mostly it is wet and grey where I live...

At least it is finally normal to drink tea and stay inside a lot but I have to say I prefer winter with all the cookies and tea and christmas...

    1. I'd be happy to trade weather! I like the cold so much better than the heat! Unfortunately, we have a lot of hot, way too often. >.> I understand though! Everyone gets sick during the fall. I know a lot of people right now who are down with something. Just that time of year. No fun at all.

I can never decide if I like fall or winter better. They're both great! I do LOOOOVE Christmas though!

    2. Yay! I am soo cold and putting on more layers of clothing does not really work all that well...
I will stay sick pretty much till march and that is sooo annoying. I really don't like that

      ... Yes... Christmas is amazing
