Iavin, Sayleth, and their two white dragons, Nemayn and Daeomin, venture to the frigid north where they stumble upon a mysterious boy named Cael whose hair is as equally white as Sayleth's. In a freezing world Iavin didn't even know existed, dark plots unfold, and Iavin learns the mysteries surrounding Cael and Sayleth are far deeper than he ever imagined, and the peaceful times of Aerigethel will all too soon be tainted with blood, death, and war.

Oh goodness, thank you! And what are you talking about? I simply adore the format of your blog. It's so organized and well put together. And the color theme is so pleasant to look at. It's wonderful!

  3. Christine--

I recently stumbled over your review of The Moon Master's Ball, and was completely blown away by your kindness! You have encouraged me so very much by loving my characters almost as much as I do. And if you ever need a helpful pair of eyes to look over a draft of one of those (amazing sounding) books you're writing, shoot me an email at limwenclara17@gmail.com

Are you thinking of entering the Five Magic Spindles competition? I am, and hope you are too! :)

    1. I may have just squealed a little bit that the author of The Moon Master's Ball came over here and left a sweet comment. Thank you so much!!! Yes, I loooved your story. I think about it all the time, it left such an impression on me.

Oh my! THANK YOU. I'm always needing more beta readers, so I may have to take you up on that offer sometime. I cannot thank you enough for your kindness!

Sadly, I'm not entering. I entered last year's and then enjoyed it so much I turned my entry into a full novel (and keep forgetting to list it over here, whoops). I was planning on doing it again this year, I had so much fun last time. But the timing just wasn't working out for me. Maybe next year!
Best of luck on your entry! Your writing is so beautiful, I have no doubt it's going to be fantastic.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

    1. Aaahhhh, thank you!!

I had so much fun writing Fallen Matter. It was SO different from anything I've ever tried, but I think that's why it was fun. But it's a monstrous mess. One day I shall go back and rewrite that thing...

My CoaDS series has been a many-year-long project. It's very special to me. It thrills me that it interests people.

You have so encouraged me! It always blows me mind that people are actually interested in my silly writings. You're just too sweet. Thank you!!! <333

    1. Awww, thank you so much! I used to have an obsession with Photoshop but sadly I don't have access to it anymore. I think Pixlr.com is very Photoshop-y though but free, so I may try it sometime. Of course, I can't do anything with these covers. I just like making them for fun just 'cause. Hehe.

    1. Honestly, I'm TERRIFIED of the idea. But my dream is to get published, so I guess I gotta shove down the fears and chase that dream. First though I have to edit and polish this thing to death to get it READY for querying. So...one step at a time? Heh.

Thank you for the encouragement! I can't tell you how much I need it. <3

    2. Okay, so I just had to ask... will you perhaps be doing beta-reading rounds for one of your fabulous-looking stories? BECAUSE I WOULD TOTALLY SIGN UP. <3

    3. Excuse me while I flail for a minute, because this just absolutely, totally, completely MADE. MY. DAY. It never ceases to blow my mind when people actually WANT to read my stories.

Annnd...I'm actually beta-ing Burning Thorns at this very moment. I'm giving my beta-readers a new chapter as I edit it. We're at chapter 15 (out of 36) currently, but you are absolutely welcome to join the team! If you don't want to, that's perfectly fine! Trust me, I understand. But if you are interested feel free to email me at Lauriloth(at)gmail(dot)com.

OH!!! I wanna read Burning Thorns SO BAD!!! O-o
      *flails*
I am in the middle of an unnamed fantasy (barely) narrated by a fourteen year old named Thomas. It involves strange fog, a kidnapped sister, islands, a boy named Pierce, weirdness, and extremely hard decisions. I have so many unfinished WIPs, and I'm THRILLED that one is actually GOING SOMEWHERE. xD
I hope you get published soon!!!! <3

    3. OOOOH. Your story sounds AWESOME!!!! Fantasy is my greatest love. I mean...obviously. XD But weirdness and hard decisions make for some of my FAVORITEST stories. Keep writing, this sounds amazing!

Thank you so much. You are such an encouragement! <3

    4. Thank you so VERY VERY much!!!! *flails* You are the BESTEST. I need ALL the encouragement i can get.
Fiction is my love. My mum and I love it (though she is also into realistic fiction), but my sister isn't very into it. And my dad CAN'T STAND IT. *cries* I think I love it the most out of my fam. I always love the crazy, "aren't real" [rolls eyes] characters like Jewel the unicorn in The Last Battle (Narnia) or Smoug in the Hobbit. <3
I usually write realistically (because... I don't know why), but I'm liking fiction more and more. <3

    5. Have I been writing fiction this WHOLE TIME!?!?!?!?!? *cries* My soul, I meant FANTASY!!!!! *Gets her imaginary friend, Kevin, to slap her*

    6. YESSSSS. GIMME ALL THE FANTASY!!!! That's sad not all your family members like it. :( My mom isn't really into fantasy, it's so sad. But the rest of my family loves it. And she'll put up with it some, it's just not really her thing.

But I'm like you, I'm the one that loves it most out of everybody. I'm so obsessed! XD

YESH. The magical creatures and such are the BEST. Jewel and Smaug are amazing. I think Smaug started my obsession with dragons. XD

    7. I know! It is the WORSTEST. *sobs* I can't seem to convert them. LOLZY! not lolzy. *cries more*

Same! Once I watched the Hobbit, I became quite obsessive over the scaly creatures.

And my cousin and I have loved unicorns since our BABY YEARS. O-o They're so noble and cute and MAGICAL! *glitter explosion*

  13. Just wondering, Christine... HOW ARE ALL YOUR BOOKS SO LONG??????????????? That's my biggest struggle as a writer XD

    1. LOLZY! Well...unfortunately I really have no advice. I actually try SO. HARD. to make my books shorter but it neverrrr works out. It's definitely not something I do on purpose so...I can't really tell you HOW to make things long, since it's something I do naturally.

OH. But Tracey Dyck JUST did a spectacular post on expanding stories if you haven't read it: http://traceydyck.blogspot.com/2017/05/when-your-story-is-too-short-tips-for.html She has some fantastic tips!

And if I ever think of some good tips, maybe I'll turn it into a blog post. ^_^ Seriously, if you ever have any writing questions, I'm ALWAYS looking for blog post ideas. So never hesitate to ask!

  14. You write....SO MUCH!! I was scrolling...and scrolling....and scrolling. You've actually finished one (sheepish smile), I haven't......gotten that far. lol
Have you finished all of them (at least a first draft)? Sadly, I think I may be just beginning. Everything's so crazy and jumbled right now. (sinks in WIPs)
It's so hard to stick with something i start because my writings just aren't interesting enough for me to stick with for a while. I've done some short stories and my aunt says I should try and publish, but that's the farthest I've gotten to finishing any of my work. *sigh*
    Any tips?
    God Bless!

    1. LOL. Well, I've been writing for some 15 or so years now, so the books add up a bit... I have finished all these on the list except for the last one "The Sign of the Shy're". That one has like...2 chapters and I never continued it. So shameful! But that's the thing, I'm the WORST about writing first draft after first draft and never editing any of them. :-/ So yes, I have a lot of first drafts done, but they're all disasters that need rewrites! Lol. Been trying to work on that!

But I SOOOO understand not finishing. I used to NEVER finish my stories or take yeeeeears working on them. Then, I discovered NaNoWriMo, which pushed me to write a lot and gave me the drive to FINISH. Ever since, I've been determined to finish the books I start. NaNoWriMo helped me because it forced me under a deadline and gave me goals, where before I was only relying on myself and I'm...not always self-disciplined. Heh. SO. The very best advice I can give on finishing stories is to join something like NaNoWriMo, or give yourself personal goals, from big to small. For example, you can give yourself 4 months to finish a novel, and then from there make daily goals, like writing 1k words a day. Really, the ONLY way I finish stories these days is giving myself goals and deadlines. They're the basis of my writing life.

I hope that helped in some way! Finishing the first novel is the HARDEST. But once you've gotten past that milestone, it gets a lot easier. I know you can do this! *waves pompoms*

      Delete
    2. You're experienced. Lol
3 years for me and I still haven't finished anything. *sigh*
We have to write at our own pace. Sometimes being fast doesn't make our work better. I know you'll do great at the rewrites and editing! *hugs*
I'd love to do camp NaNo, but deadlines are my enemies. lol I guess I need to learn self-discipline.
It's hard to give myself deadlines when I always feel like I can break them because they're mine. lol I just need to figure out what i'm even going to start writing. I need to find the perfect subject I can write about and give it a nice twist. *groans*

You're so sweet for giving me advice, Christine!!! *hugs* Talk about hard...
      Thanks for the support! *beaming*
      God Bless! <3

      Delete
    3. You're so right. We all have our own pace, and there is no wrong pace. It just matters that you WRITE. No matter how quickly or steadily. Thanks for the reminder. ^_^

Deadlines can definitely not be fun... But you don't HAVE to abide by NaNo's deadlines. It's just a good way to push yourself to get some writing done. And there's something sooo motivating knowing thousands of other people around the world are writing as well. NaNo is magical like that. But you most certainly do not have to join NaNo!!! I was just saying goals--whether NaNo or my own or what-have-you--helps me finish books. *nods*

But, like you told me, everyone writes at their own pace. Just enjoy the ride and be kind to yourself. *hugs*

      Delete
    4. As long as we write what pleases us and God, we're good. You're welcome! ;D
NaNo seems fun to me, though it might make me get so frustrated that I ditch everything before I come back to my senses!! Okay...I think I'm paranoid now. lol
I'd like to try NaNo at least once to see how I fair and then maybe again if it helped me. Do u know when the next one is? (Also, time issues. *cringe*)
Once I find the perfect plot for me to write, then the goals need to be set and laid down.

Thanks so much for your support and the shove in the right direction! *hugs back*

      Delete
    5. Beautifully put, and so very true! ^_^

Don't be paranoid! If you start NaNo and decide you hate it, then just stop. There is NO obligation. It's there for you, no one else. So if you decide to step out of it that's perfectly okay!

The main, official NaNo is always in November (the website is here: http://nanowrimo.org/). Then they have a Camp NaNo (https://campnanowrimo.org/sign_in) in April and July. But again, don't feel pressured to do it! I tooootally understand time issues. I only ever do the NaNo in November. I basically never do Camp NaNo because, like you said, time. Life. All that fun stuff getting in the way of writing time. Lol.

Awww, you're welcome! It's my joy to help a fellow writer out! ^_^

      Delete
    6. Thanks. :D

Okay, I thought that if you signed up then you had to stick with it. lol That's a relief.

If i did try it, then I probably would go with the one in July. That's when I'm more free. The beginning of summer's always busy. If you don't mind, I have some questions?

      Like...
-Can you do camp NaNo as a team, or is it you for yourself?
-If so, can i pick who i have in my team, or "cabin" as some people say?
      -do you have to pay?

It makes me happy to know that i have support from you guys! <3
      God Bless! :)

      Delete
    7. Oh no! It's not like you sign a contract or anything. Lol! It's just there for fun. No obligations whatsoever.

July sounds like a plan! Plus, with Camp NaNo you get to set your own wordcount goal. With the official NaNoWriMo in November the wordcount goal is 50k for everyone.

      I never mind questions! ^_^

Camp NaNo lets you have what they call "cabins" which is basically just like a private chatroom that you can have up to 20 people in. And yes, you can invite people into your cabin. Like I said, it's basically like a chatroom where you can all encourage one another, have word wars, just help each other write without having to do it alone. Obviously you're each writing your own novel, but you're still there for each other to cheer one another on. It's pretty great. ^_^

And you do NOT have to pay! Goodness no. Don't worry about that! NaNoWriMo if really just a website and online event that helps you get motivated to write. It's as simple as that.

The Camp NaNo website has a fantastic FAQ if you need more info (and if I'm not making any sense. Lol). You can find it here: http://campnanowrimo.org/faq

      Hope that helped! ^_^

    8. That's good! Lol

I'd like to maybe try it out next summer! (Maybe......) If I ever tried it, maybe we could be in the same cabin.

Wow, that sounds really cool. I really would like to give it a shot. I can arrange my own goal, have support, and have my novel succeed! :)

Huh? All this awesomeness for free?! They give all this help to writers for nothing? That's really cool!

You made perfect sense! I tend to ask lots of questions. lol
You help me a lot, Christine! Thank you. *hugs*
      God Bless! <3

    9. Have you ever had any troubles with the chatrooms with camp NaNo, or anyone who has had problems? I hear they can get pretty ugly...

    10. I'd love to be in the same cabin sometime! But I actually rarely do Camp NaNo. I usually only do the main NaNo in November and that doesn't have cabins. But if I DO attempt Camp next July I'll let you know! ^_^

And yes, the NaNo team is amazing for doing all this for free. You can donate to them if you ever feel inclined, but it's NOT necessary.

As far as the chatrooms...like I said, I hardly ever do Camp NaNo. I've really only done it...once? And my cabin was full of writers I knew so it was safe. So I really can't tell you how a chatroom with strangers goes. I guess it just depends. But I THINK you can opt out of a cabin if you don't like it. And you don't even have to BE in a cabin! It's up to you. But you could always try to join a cabin with people you know. *nods*

    1. Unfortunately, none of them are published. They're just works-in-progress. I'm hoping to try to get published traditionally so...it may be a long time before I have something published. But your interest in them gives me encouragement to keep pursuing it! ^_^

  17. Oh geez, I hope you get published! Burning Thorns and the Colors of a Dragon Scale series look especially appealing, though all of these have fascinating synopses (you sure know how to write a hook)! Excellent covers, btw :D
